Job Description

The Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is offering a position for a postdoctoral fellow in experimental quantum optics with a focus on atom-photon interaction in an optical cavity project on quantum interfaces.

The aim of this project is to prepare an atom-photon interface that allows a strong interaction to implement basic quantum information primitives between two flying qubits. The physical approach we follow for this is using an optical cavity in the strong focusing regime, so the candidate should have some familiarity with optical cavities in non-standard configurations. A background in atomic physics as well as familiarity with narrowband laser systems for laser cooling and manipulation of internal atomic states as well as single photon detection techniques is also expected.

Job Requirements

The candidate is expected to have a PhD in experimental physics or related topics in engineering, with expertise in experimental atomic, molecular and optical physics, and work closely with Prof. Christian Kurtsiefer. The candidate is expected to integrate well in a team, and be able to guide more junior team members like PhD students as well as undergraduate research students working on experimental projects in the lab.The group provides ample of opportunities of scientific interaction, both locally and internationally through a strong presence at international conferences.

More information about the group can be found at https://qolah.org, or through direct contact of Christian Kurtsiefer by email to phyck@nus.edu.sg
