Postdoc Research Fellow, UCD School of Chem & Bioprocess Eng
Applications are invited for a 23 month post of a Post doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 or Level 2 within UCD School of Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering.
The LICORICE team in the Schools of Chemistry and Chemical & Bioprocess Engineering in UCD have devised highly innovative solution to recycle waste battery products into a novel material that is then transformed into fresh lithium cobalt oxide (LCO) and an equivalent process for NMC batteries also.
This patent pending process results in lower energy consumption and a fast turnaround compared to current industry standards. We will work with industry and academics to make Ireland's first fully green battery, showing that electric vehicle production can be environmentally sound. This aims to lead to cheaper batteries for electric vehicles, lower carbon emissions and relieve conditions for communities involved in mining the raw materials.
The advertised position is for a lead project engineer to design, build, test and simulate key unit operations and devise and demonstrate a scalable plant architecture at lab scale for this novel process route for battery recycling.
This is a research focused role, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training and development under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator. The primary purpose of the role is to further develop your research skills and competences, including the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications, the development of funding proposals, the mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching.
