About the opportunity

The Gadigal Strategic Engagement Senior Manager (Identified) has been designated for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only under the provisions of section 126 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW)

In thi role you will contribute to the achievement of the University's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education, engagement and research objectives. This will be accomplished by providing senior University-wide leadership to ensure the Gadigal Centre's objectives are in alignment with the University's strategic agenda. To attain these goals, you will be working in close collaboration with other senior leaders in the portfolio, the Gadigal Strategic Engagement Senior Manager will agree annual strategic priorities and the steps needed to achieve them.

The Gadigal Strategic Engagement Senior Manager (Identified) will also be responsible for coordinating the Gadigal College Scholarships Program, which involves liaising with college principles and other stakeholders to ensure the structure, reporting and six-monthly reviews remain fit for purpose.

  • has extensive knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and cultures, including an understanding of the issues affecting people in contemporary Australian society and the diversity of circumstances of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • has demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work
  • has strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills together with effective leadership and people management skills
  • has demonstrated knowledge of the various Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisation in the local regions
  • has demonstrated capacity and willingness to contribute to the program development and the teaching of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander studies as appropriate
  • has outstanding communication and interpersonal skills including the capacity to build relationships and an inter-disciplinary way of working
  • the ability to generate a strong sense of team spirit, cooperation, and collaboration within and across teams
  • excellent time and workload management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise effectively, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and achieve required outcomes
  • has a working understanding of relevant aspects of the Work Health and Safety Policy and relevant legislation, as applicable to the work environment
  • has proven management experience at a senior level; together with flexibility, capacity to adapt to changing circumstances and environments and, when necessary, navigating through ambiguity.
