About the Role(s)/ You Head of Department, MBA [3-year, Fixed Term Position] - As the Head of Department, you will be responsible for leading, managing and developing the academic staff of the Department to deliver on the College research and research training strategy and the College learning and teaching strategy. In this position you will work closely with the Dean, the Deputy Dean - Learning & Teaching, the Deputy Dean - Research & Innovation, the Program Managers and the Manager, and Planning and Resources to ensure that research, research training and teaching activities within the Department are aligned with School and College objectives, targets, standards and workload models. You will be a leader in establishing and maintaining important external relationships relevant to the Department's scholarship, including with national and international scholarly and professional associations, funding bodies, industry partners, and key journals and conferences.

To be successful in this position, you'll have as a minimum:

  • Strong academic leadership and management skills with demonstrated ability to leads teams to deliver on strategic objectives.
  • Internationally recognised research standing in scholarship relevant to the Graduate School of Business and Law.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of relevant industry and training priorities, and demonstrated scholarly, professional and industry networks.

Professor, MB [Full Time, Continuing Position] - As the Professor in the Graduate School of Business and Law, you will be a Senior Academic and Eminent Researcher in the specialist field, contributing significantly to teaching and research outputs, building capability of staff and promoting strong academic performance. Within this role you will provide high level research leadership developing and leading research project teams and programs and fostering a vibrant research culture. You will also help to develop a high-quality and productivity-driven research network across RMIT and with external national and global partners. You will also make a significant contribution to teaching and learning in the discipline with the aim of improving learning outcomes for students. The Professor will take on the Head of Department role for the MBA discipline for a period of three years.

To be successful in this position, you'll have as a minimum:

  • Extensive experience in attracting and supervising higher degree by research candidates to maximise research performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead improvement of academic standards, including implementing best practice teaching strategies and dissemination of innovative practices in the MBA discipline.
  • Evidence of demonstrated strategic leadership in leadership of MBA programs and effective membership of a management team that developed and achieved shared goals and objectives.

Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children Check.

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications, including a PhD, in the relevant discipline with knowledge and achievements that meet RMIT's Professorial criteria.

About the College/Portfolio

The Graduate School of Business & Law (GSBL) commenced operations in January 2010. In July 2010 the GSBL moved to the new Emily McPherson premises, opening an exciting new phase in RMIT's development of professional programs for the experienced, post-graduate business market. RMIT has one of the longest standing MBA programs in Australia, commencing the program in the mid-1970s. The GSBL now offers MBAs for Executive, Graduate and OUA students and corporate students.

These programs are now delivered in Melbourne and Vietnam campuses as well as online. The GSBL offers both MBA and MBA (Executive) programs. The MBA (Executive) program is designed for students with significant work experience. The MBA program is for more recent graduates who may have less work experience. It is offered in full- and part-time modes and online with RMIT Online. The following programs form part of the portfolio of Programs in the Department MBA. During the normal course of refreshing and renewing the School's program profile, this list of programs is subject each year to change, disestablishment, or addition:
