Job description
Summary
The postholder will provide senior-level leadership of our Academic Development Framework and will line manage the Learning & Teaching team in CTESS which includes two Lecturers in Academic Practice. Administrative support is provided by a CTESS administrator.
The Head of Academic Professional Development will be one of three 'Heads' in CTESS, and will work closely with the Head of Widening Participation and the Head of Quality & Standards. The postholder will be line managed by the Head of CTESS (who is also the University's Dean of Learning & Teaching). Applicants should have prior experience of line management and team/project leadership, and should have a track record in the field of academic professional development in a higher education context.
The successful candidate will have recognition at UKPSF D2 and preferably at D3. They will be familiar with good practice in the sector in terms of how to support busy academics to engage with CPD, and have a proven track record of achievement in this area of work (e.g. increasing staff engagement, driving new areas of CPD or formats of training etc). Knowledge of sector bodies (e.g. QAA, AdvanceHE, HEDG, SEDA, ALDinHE) will be required, and it will be expected that the successful candidate maintains St Mary’s links with such bodies.
