As part of the Database Administration team, you will be supporting and developing database systems and solutions that are essential to the University’s core operations. 

You will take a leading role in the implementation of data integration solutions for forthcoming projects and the ongoing development of University data integration systems as part of the Automation Strategy.

About The Role

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate resourcefulness, initiative and understand the value of delivering reliable and stable services with clear and concise documentation. You will be working as part of a team of highly motivated individuals who are committed to achieving deadlines and customer satisfaction.

This post is offered on a full-time, fixed term basis for 12 months. We are currently working remotely, with future remote options available.

What You’ll Do

To work directly with the University community to deliver flexible and innovative database solutions in support of the University’s, education, research and enterprise agendas.

To support those developments by means of documentation, training, automated testing and providing third-line support for the team’s areas of responsibility.

In collaboration with colleagues, to propose new and innovative solutions to organisational challenges and make recommendations for continual improvement of systems and services.

What You’ll Bring 

  • Experience of databases such as MSSQL, Oracle, MySQL or other similar technology.
  • Experience delivering and working with any of the following would also be advantageous:
    • Cloud services
    • Security by design
    • Authentication
    • Process and system automation 
  • Good Experience in IT Administration with one or more of the following:
    • SQL
    • Python
    • PowerShell
    • Puppet/DSC "Infrastructure as Code”
  • The ability to present your ideas to you colleagues and to a potentially non-technical audience.
