Applications are invited for appointment as part-time Lecturer in Latin American Studies in the School of Modern Languages and Cultures (American Studies) (Ref.: 504524), for the second semester of the 2021-2022 academic year, from January to June 2022.

The American Studies Programme develops an understanding of the Americas in a global context. The Programme's courses are interdisciplinary and include film, history, law, lite ature, politics and the visual arts. Some of the themes explored delve into a hemispheric overview of nationalism, imperialism, colonialism and post-colonialism, as well as theories of class, gender, race and sexuality.

Applicant should have a Ph.D. in Latin American Studies or any related area. We encourage candidates with expertise in Political Science, History, Gender and Culture Studies, Visual Studies, Literature, Anthropology and Social Sciences that delve into Latin American reality.  Preference will be given to those who can teach either on US-Latin American relations from a wide range of perspectives or on contemporary and current approaches to Latin America. Knowledge of Spanish and/or Portuguese would be an advantage.
