Full-Time, Fixed-Term (20 months) 

Salary in range of £33,797 - £35,845 per annum pro rata. London Allowance of £2,134 will be payable in addition to salary.

Applications are invited for the post of Post doctoral research associate in Laser trapping aerosol particles in the Earth Sciences Department to be based at the UKRI-STFC Central Laser Facility, Rutherford-Appleton Laboratory.

The post is due to the recent  NERC grant “Quantifying the light scattering and atmospheric oxidation rate of real organic films on atmospheric aerosol”. You will be responsible for planning, conducting and performing experiments in the determining the optical properties of atmospheric aerosol extracted from the atmosphere, their subsequent oxidation,  data   analysis, and writing up. 

You will have experience and skills in the laser experiments, aerosol science or light scattering experiments. You will also have the ability to code/script in a language such as labview, python, C, Fortran, or similar. You should also be a strong communicator with excellent written and oral communication skills to write up high quality peer-reviewed publications.

The post is based at the Central Laser Facility, Rutherford-Appleton Laboratory, Oxfordshire, but you will be employed by Royal Holloway University of London where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London.

This is a fixed term post for 20 months.
