Job Details

UCD is committed to providing an inclusive and respectful study and work environment for students, faculty and staff of the University, and this is demonstrated in the University Strategic Plan "Attract, retain and develop an excellent and diverse cohort of students, faculty and staff" and through its values, particularly diversity.

The EDI Unit, as part of Culture and Engagement, leads on the delivery of the EDI Strategy through a range of initiaitives including policy development, awareness raising and training, internal and external relationship building, collation and analysing of data, establishing peer support groups and networks, attainment of accreditations such as Athena SWAN and supporting and promoting a positive culture of Dignity and Respect where bullying, harassment and sexual misconduct is not tolerated.

UCD recently approved a new Bullying and Harassment policy and Sexual Misconduct policy (including sexual harassment and sexual violence), a formal complaint procedure and supporting documentation following an 18-month review of Dignity and Respect in UCD. A key recommendation to support the implementation of the policies is the establishment of a new Dignity and Respect Support & Advisory Service which will form part of the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Unit.

This service will work proactively with students and employees who disclose issues of a bullying, harassment or sexual misconduct nature and those who are reported. It will support, respond and advise on all reports of a bullying, harassment or sexual misconduct nature and will work proactively with individuals to explore options for resolution and will provide a supportive, confidential environment in which to discuss the issues and support individuals to make a decision that is right for them.

Applications are invited for the role of Senior Dignity and Respect Support Advisor. Reporting to the Strategic Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Manager, this role will provide support to students and employees in relation to issues of Bullying, Harassment and Sexual Misconduct. It will also support and guide two further roles of Dignity and Respect Support Advisors.

Under the direction of the Strategic EDI Manager, the role will work closely with key stakeholders across the Univeristy incuding colleagues in EDI, Student Advisers, Student Engagement, Conduct, Complaints and Assessment, Culture and Engagement, HR Partners, Students' Union and others to deliver a service that supports students and employees and raises awareness and contributes to building a culture in the area of dignity and respect where bullying, harassment and sexual misconduct is not tolerated. The role will also help to build further on relationships with external bodies.
