The Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Statistics invites applications for a
Professorship (W2) (fixed term for 5 years)
of Mathematics of Many-body Quantum systems
commencing as soon as possible.
We are looking for outstanding candidates in the field of mathematics of many-body quantum mechanics. Evidence of outstanding research in mathematical questions of Bose-Einstein condensation and similar collective phenomena in many-particle quantum mechanics is expected.
The appointee is expected to participate in the general teaching duties of the Department of Mathematics in particular in the TMP program. In addition, applicants should be willing to actively participate in initiatives of the Institute in research.
We are looking for excellent candidates in a current core area of pure mathematics whose research interests complement and extend the ones of the existing research groups at the Department of Mathematics in algebraic/arithmetic geometry and differential-geometry/topology. The appointee is expected to participate in the general teaching duties of the Department of Mathematics and to actively contribute to initiatives of the Department in research and teaching.
LMU Munich seeks to appoint a highly qualified junior academic to this professorship and, therefore, especially encourages early-career scholars to apply. Prerequisites for this position are a university degree and a doctoral degree or a comparable specific qualification. With an excellent record in research and teaching to date, prospective candidates will have demonstrated the potential for an outstanding academic career.
The position is a fixed-term professorship for the duration of five years. A conversion to an indefinite position (tenure track) is not possible.
