Job description

The School of Social Sciences, Education and Social Work is currently seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Education Studies, the post holder will undertake research in line with the School’s research strategy, contribute to teaching Education and Professional Studies on the School’s PGCE programme as well as more widely on Education Studies in the School.

As the Lecturer in Education Studies, you will develop and contribute to the research strategies of the School and build/develop expertise in the field of Education, including the teaching activities of the School by pursuing new and innovative teaching approaches, taking the responsibility for the quality of course units and delivering a range of teaching and assessment activities including lectures, setting/marking coursework and practice learning according to the needs of the School’s Curricula.

As the successful post holder, you will have the following:

  • Honours Degree at 2.i or above, or 2.ii with a Masters.
  • PhD or Professional Doctorate in Education or cognate area awarded or due for submission on or before 30 September 2021.
  • Post-Primary Teaching qualification (PGCE or a qualification recognised by the University as equivalent).
  • Evidence of an ability to publish academically, commensurate with stage of career.
  • Research interests directly relevant to education studies such as the social, economic, cultural and psychological factors that influence the education system.
  • Experience of lecturing and tutoring at University level or equivalent in education studies.
  • Demonstrable understanding of the social, economic, cultural and psychological factors that influence the education system.
