The School of Science, Technology and Engineering is engaged in a wide range of research, engagement, and teaching across disciplines including computer science and ICT, environmental science and management, and animal ecology and engineering. The School also has research interest groups such as the Detection Dogs for Conservation, the Marine and Coastal Ecology group and the Tropical Aquaculture group. The School has plans to further enhance and grow their presence at the Moreton Bay and Fraser coast campus with new offerings whilst continuing to innovate, develop and grow at the Sippy Downs campus.

Reporting to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), the University is seeking an energetic, dynamic academic leader to provide strategic direction and operational management, to oversee the delivery of high impact research and innovative teaching programs and to lead growth and engagement for the School. The Dean will provide strategic, academic, educational, research and engagement leadership to ensure the School and University’s strategic priorities and objectives are achieved. The Dean will also be a member of the Vice-Chancellor’s extended leadership team.

To be successful, you will have a doctoral or equivalent qualification with relevant professorial and leadership experience and international recognition as a leader in a relevant discipline through a significant record of achievement in teaching, learning, research and leadership. You will have proven strategic leadership skills in leading cross-campus collaboration and research excellence, a strong focus on creating and leveraging opportunities and the ability to develop and sustain mutually beneficial relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders. High level skills in operational planning, change management, financial management, decision making,continuous improvement, people management, business development, industry and community engagement are key to your success. Outstanding interpersonal, communication, influencing skills and stakeholder management skills are essential.
