UCL Vice-President (Strategy & Planning)

UCL – London’s Global University
UCL is a diverse community with the freedom to challenge and think differently. With over 12,500 staff and more than 41,500 students from 150 countries, we pursue academic excellence, break boundaries and make a positive impact on real world problems.  We champion innovation, creativity and cross-disciplinary working in our teaching and research and we are consistently ranked among the top 10 universities in the world. From the start, we opened higher education to students from a wide range of backgrounds and have changed the way we create and share knowledge.

The courageous attitude and disruptive spirit of our founders is still alive today.

Our new President & Provost Dr Michael Spence joined UCL in 2021. As he builds UCL’s senior leadership team, we now seek to appoint three positions: Vice-Provost (Education & Student Experience), Vice-President (Strategy & Planning) and Vice-President (Advancement). This new team will oversee a unified strategy for UCL, through collaboration built on trust, openness, collaboration and commitment.

The Vice-President (Strategy & Planning) is a new role created to help us realise our collective vision. The successful candidate will join UCL at an exciting time, as the President & Provost works with our community of brilliant minds to develop the themes that will be at the heart of the new UCL strategy. As the senior facilitator of that strategy, the Vice-President will be responsible for building a whole-university culture of strategic planning and data-driven decision-making and will lead the teams that provide data and insight, business analysis and planning support.

UCL is seeking a collaborative and strategic individual with significant experience of leading a successful strategy function within a complex organisation. They will have a strong track record of leading impactful stakeholder engagement and driving change.  The appointee will have a consultative style and demonstrate high levels of integrity, emotional intelligence and creativity, combined with a desire to facilitate the success of others.

UCL is an outstanding place to work. Our people are our greatest asset and in return we provide an empowering, values-based environment. We foster difference, mutual respect and collaboration, and actively encourage applications that will bring diverse experience to the leadership of UCL.

Applications should consist of a full CV detailing academic and professional qualifications, full employment history, latest remuneration and relevant achievements and should be accompanied by a covering letter describing briefly their suitability for this role, why the appointment is of interest, and what they believe they can bring to the role. These can be uploaded here.

Closing Date: Sunday 1st August 2021

Location: London, UK

Salary: Commensurate with the seniority of the role
