Faculty / Directorate

The Maths Learning Centre is situated within Learning Services based in the Directorate of Library and Learning Services. Learning Services is a lively, enthusiastic and supportive team who have achieved a national reputation for the quality and range of their work with learners and welcome new colleagues to support continuing demand for our work and wider contribution to DMU.

Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, confident and proactive individual to provide maths support to our students. The post holder will provide one to one teaching to undergraduate, postgraduate and research students; deliver workshops on a range of mathematical topics; and develop learning and teaching resources, including video tutorials and online materials. The work will involve collaboration with faculty staff to develop and embed maths within the curriculum to enhance student retention, satisfaction and success. We are currently teaching in a blended format, therefore, there will be a requirement to work on Campus in Leicester. This ‘face to face’ availability of the service extends to early evening and occasional weekend provision. The post holder will be joining the team at an important stage of growth and development and we are seeking an individual who has the energy, initiative and ability to promote and expand our service. Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in Mathematics, with the ability and knowledge to support and teach maths across a broad range of courses across the University. Along with having a teaching qualification and relevant post-16 maths teaching experience, the candidate must have a genuine desire for helping others to learn, a passion to work with diverse groups of HE learners and a willingness to work as part of a team. The post is available for an immediate start, however for the ideal candidate we are willing to accommodate a longer notice period. Interview date : 9th September 2021
