Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer in Digital Manufacturing within Aston University’s Mechanical, Biomedical & Design subject group. Successful candidates will demonstrate a student-centred teaching focus with an enthusiasm for teaching in Manufacturing and Robotics. The successful applicant will also be expected to be active in research in Industry 4.0, Smart Manufacturing, Robotics and Manufacturing Automation, with a well-established or developing reputation. 

Applicants must have a first degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, electronic engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline and we would also expect applicants to hold a formal teaching qualification such as a PGCHE and / or have achieved FHEA or above, or be willing to achieve this once in post.

We are particularly keen to hear from applicants with experience of research and teaching in areas such as Industry 4.0, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM), Smart Factory, Lights Out Manufacturing (Dark Factory), Robotics and Manufacturing Automation, Smart Manufacturing and Digital Twin. Applicants should be familiar with VLE software such as Blackboard or Moodle.

The successful applicant will be expected to develop teaching materials, teach and assess students using a variety of formats including lectures and tutorials for the whole class and individual projects. An effective and evidenced track record in learning and teaching using these modes is essential as is a record of positive student feedback. 

In addition, applicants may be expected to be play a key role in the operation of the subject group including acting as personal tutor to students, taking part in open days and helping with outreach activities. Where appropriate, there will also be opportunity for involvement in, or leadership of, key operational areas.
