The mission of the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry, located on Viikki Campus, is to promote the sustainable use of natural resources through scholarly research and teaching based on such research. Our key fields of education and research include agricultural and forest sciences, food and nutrition, as well as the related fields of microbiology and economics. Consequently, we cover the full natural resource chain from farm to fork, the entire field of forest sciences from soil chemistry to marketing, as well as the environmental effects of related activities. The University of Helsinki’s Research Services and Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry invite applications for the position of

GRANT WRITER

to enhance the opportunities of researchers at the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry to obtain competitive research funding. The position is in the Research Services sector.

The primary duty of the appointee is to contribute to the writing, planning and other preparation of research funding applications in active cooperation with researchers and research groups seeking to obtain funding. The duties of the position are particularly focused on preparing funding applications for the Horizon Europe programme and other extensive domestic and international project funding schemes.

Other duties include surveying and communicating on research funding opportunities provided by the Horizon Europe programme and other appropriate, especially international, sources, advising researchers in matters relating to the acquisition of research funding, communicating with research funders and providing training relevant to research funding
.
Eligible applicants will possess

  • An applicable doctoral degree
  • Experience in the fields of science represented at the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry
  • Experience of EU framework programmes and success in applying for research funding
  • Fluent written and oral skills in English
  • Interest in working in different teams
  • Initiative as well as an active and service-oriented mindset
  • An ability to work under pressure and to tight schedules
  • Interest in writing and editing texts

As part of the Research Services team, you will be working in close cooperation with the vice-dean for research of the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry and a multidisciplinary research community. You will engage in developing our operations, cooperation between Research Services and faculties, as well as your personal expertise. The position will be filled for a fixed term of three years as of 1 September 2021 or as agreed. At the beginning of the term, the salary of the position will range between €4,200 and €4,500 per month, depending on the qualifications and previous experience of the appointee.
