Call for a Postdoctoral Researcher and a Doctoral Student - HelsinkiALD research group
The HelsinkiALD research group at Department of Chemistry invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher and a Doctoral Student to employment relationships starting September 1st, 2021 or as agreed. The Postdoctoral Researcher position is funded for two years and the Doctoral Student position for four years. A probationary period of six months is applied in both positions.
HelsinkiALD (www.helsinki.fi/HelsinkiALD) is a research group with a long history and strong reputation in ALD (atomic layer deposition) research. We are now looking for new members to a project where self-aligned fabrication methods are developed and studied for making thin film structures for semiconductor devices. The methods are controlled by surface chemistry which is selective to the underlying materials that are exposed on the surface of the device being made. As a result, thin film is formed in a self-aligned manner only on top of certain material(s) while others are left uncovered.
The area of these positions is inorganic materials chemistry but the candidates may have background in also polymer and physical chemistry, materials science and engineering, microelectronics, and materials physics. Hands-on experience on materials characterisation methods, thin film deposition and vacuum equipment is appreciated.
The Postdoctoral Research shall have a doctoral degree and the Doctoral Student a master´s degree in chemistry, physics, materials science and engineering or equivalent.
Furthermore, the Doctoral Student must either already have the right to pursue a doctoral degree in Materials Research and Nanosciences (MATRENA) doctoral programme at the University of Helsinki or apply for the right and obtain it within the probationary period of 6 months applied in the appointment. For more information on the MATRENA: www.helsinki.fi/en/admissions-and-education/apply-doctoral-programmes/do....
