Position overview

ANU has an international reputation for research and education relevant to the health and well-being of the population of Australia, as well as that of the developing world. This is achieved through discovery research, applied research in health service settings, research-led teaching in health and medical sciences, and the translation of research findings into practice and policy. The ANU College of Health and Medicine comprises the Research School of Psychology, the ANU Medical School, the John Curtin School of Medical Research and the Research School of Population Health. These schools work together to deliver world-class research and education across the spectrum of medicine and health-related fields, working in partnership with the health sector at local, national and international levels.

The National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health (NCEPH) within the Research School of Population Health (RSPH) is seeking an outstanding senior field epidemiologist to Direct the Master of Philosophy in Applied Epidemiology Program (MAE) - Australia’s Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP), within increasing focus on the Asia-Pacific region. The Program Director–MAE will lead the MAE team, including playing a leadership role in development and delivery of supervision (including supervision training), teaching and research within the MAE program, and conduct applied epidemiological research into a relevant area of work that may be infectious or non-communicable in nature.  The Program Director–MAE will represent the program externally, and supervise staff and students.

The Program Director – MAE Program will be a member of Research School of Population Health, accountable to the Head, NCEPH and Director of the School. The Program Director will: develop and maintain highly effective relationships with external stakeholders, staff, and students; collaborate with a range of government, non-government, and community, health organisations; and develop collaborative research within RSPH and other academic institutions. This position will lead the MAE program team and take a major leadership role within the MAE program in both research and teaching.
