Funded by The Wellcome Trust, the University of Southampton together with the University Hospital Southampton Foundation Trust, wishes to appoint a Clinical Research Fellow. The post-holder will undertake their research within the Clinical and Experimental Sciences Academic Unit of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Southampton and will hold an honorary clinical appointment at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.

The post is a 6 month maternity replacement post. It is intended for a clinical ophthalmologist interested in clinical research. The project will involve utilising adaptive optics to phenotype patients with age related macular degeneration and other retinal diseases. You will be participating in a clinical study assessing the role of artificial intelligence in diagnosing age related macular degeneration. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a Wellcome Trust funded Collaborative Award in Science. You will be an ophthalmologist interested in developing your clinical research skills. 

This is a 6 month maternity replacement post to start in September 2021.

A satisfactory DBS disclosure at Enhanced level is required for this post.

*Please note: successful applicants will be appointed to a different salary range (£34,466- £47,018 pa) if they were at ST3 on or before 2 August 2016.
