BRIEF DESCRIPTION    

Reporting to the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, the Program Director of Continuing Medical Education (CME) at Khalifa University’s College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS) manages the day-to-day operations of the Department of CME and the development and management of CME activities by the CMHS. 

DETAILED DESCRIPTION    

Strategic Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the formulation of the CMHS’s strategy, with a focus on meeting KU and CMH`s strategic goals in the areas of undergraduate medical education
  • Contribute to the development of the CMHS’s policies and procedures, adhering to the overall objectives of Khalifa University, ensuring alignment to applicable regulations and standards, and promoting leading practices and educational excellence
  • Contribute to the development of the office budget
  • Manage and mentor staff within the office

Operational Responsibilities

  • Work with the leadership of the CMHS and stakeholders to identify topics based on needs assessment
  • Develop and maintain accreditation with the appropriate bodies
  • Secure financial and administrative support required to conduct all live CME activities (e.g., physical facilities, AV equipment, personnel)Ensure that programs have appropriate CME accreditation
  • Work with the appropriate faculty in developing the content of the program
  • Develop and manage the distribution of publicity for CME activities
  • Assist in liaising with other stakeholders and the University community in regard to CME matters
  • Provide information or prepare reports, as and when needed

General

  • Ensure adherence to the University’s information security policies and procedures and report breaches or other security risks accordingly
  • Ensure coordination with other departments to facilitate the accomplishment of tasks and responsibilities, as and when needed
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the Associate Den and his line managers

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Acts as the direct line supervisor of the Coordinator of CME
  • Provide direct reports with mentoring, coaching, and training to improve communication, problem-solving, and tactical skills
  • Approve requests for time off and completes other management duties within timeframes

JOB REQUIREMENTS    

Required Qualifications

  • MD or equivalent degree (MB., ChB, etc.)

Required Experiences

  • Familiarity or experience with CME
  • Ability to relate to health care professionals and work under time constraints
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), as well as client relations and data management programs
  • Ability to work on some weekends when conferences are held
  • Ability to travel outside of Abu Dhabi, within the UAE or to regional conferences
