Starting Salary is £43,660 per annum inclusive of London Allowance 

*This is the expected starting salary for this post however appointment at a higher point may be made for candidates who demonstrate exceptional skills and experience relevant to the role.

Applications are invited for the post of Teaching Fellow in Creative Writing (Fiction) and Professional Writing in the English Department, School of Humanities. 

This new role reflects the growth and success of our MA and Undergraduate Creative Writing programmes and our investment in skills and employability for our wider undergraduate cohort. The role holder will join a department ranked 2nd in UK for BA English and Creative writing (Complete University Guide 2021) and with an internationally renowned MA in Creative Writing. Working within the supportive and cohesive Department of English, the appointee will develop our strengths in creative and critical writing practices. The role involves teaching workshops on the MA Creative Writing (Fiction), supporting undergraduate Creative Writing teaching in fiction, and convening and teaching on a new course for non-creative writing students, ‘Writing as a Critic; Writing in the World’ that focuses on writing for a range of professional contexts. 

You will be a published fiction writer with a national profile commensurate with the reputation of the MA Creative Writing. You will have experience of teaching creative writing workshops at a range of levels within Higher Education and appropriate knowledge of module design and delivery. You will have professional experience of writing, editing, and/or commissioning writing in one or more of the following contexts: journalism; heritage industry; publishing; policy; law. You will be a strong team player, committed to delivering high-quality teaching, academic support, and pastoral care within the framework of the School of Humanities strategic and operational requirements.
