About the role /you

As a Lecturer in Economics, you will be expected to contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the School. Responsibilities will include carrying out teaching activities within undergraduate and/or postgraduate programs. This is addition to maintaining and advancing scholarly, research and professional capabilities.

You will be expected to actively promote the discipline's programs, minors, and research profile by establishing and maintaining memberships, links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities. In this role you will work collaboratively and collegially with fellow academics as well as update colleagues and students on developments in your field.

To be successful in this role you will have but not limited to:

  • Experience in the preparation and delivery of programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including online delivery, and the ability to produce high quality curriculum and/or program materials.
  • Emerging track record and recognition for quality research outputs which will contribute to existing Discipline and School research areas, in particular, Behavioural Economics, Digital (including Blockchain) Innovation, International Development Studies and Societal Economics. This should be evidenced by publications, development of new research initiatives, competitive research funding, and industry links.
  • Experience with course coordination
  • Interpersonal and communications skills appropriate for interacting with higher degree by research candidates, staff and industry, together with a strong commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration.

About College & School

As one of the largest Business Schools in the Asia Pacific region, the College of Business and Law is comprised of seven schools - six in Melbourne and one in Vietnam - delivering a broad range of programs in Business, ranging from Certificates up to PHD levels. Many programs articulate between Vocational Education and Higher Education, creating pathways for further study. RMIT Business programs are delivered in Melbourne, Vietnam, Singapore, Shanghai and Jakarta, as well as through Open Universities Australia (OUA) and RMIT Online. The College has an annual budget of approximately $300 million, employs over 1200 staff and delivers programs to approximately 31,000 students. The School of Economics, Finance and Marketing (formed in 2005) aims to be recognised as leading the way in providing industry focused degrees and applied research as well as providing leadership in innovative thinking pertinent in creating strategic directions for professions in the public interest.

  • Relevant degree and/or relevant experience.
