The University of Lincoln is an ambitious Higher Education institution. The University was awarded Gold the highest standard possible in the 2017 Teaching Excellence Framework: a nationwide assessment of teaching quality across UK higher education institutions. It is also committed to growing student numbers, using new partnerships with external organisations and innovative forms of programme delivery. The School of Computer Science has played a key part in achieving this success, pursuing a blend of fundamental, applied and interdisciplinary research, with particular strengths in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Robotics and Autonomous Systems, and Human-Computer Interaction.

The intLab Research Group (http://www.intlab.co.uk) is characterised by a strong interdisciplinary perspective, and encompasses themes including HCI, games, virtual/augmented/mixed reality, accessibility, wellbeing and civic engagement. We have a proven track record of producing engaging research and high-quality outputs, and we actively collaborate with academics from a range of schools across the University, including Psychology, Design and Arts. Our group provides a mutually supportive and collaborative working environment, within which the appointed post holder will be able to actively contribute to the ongoing success of the school, through the generation of high-quality research outputs, grant income and associated research activities.

The post holder will also contribute to teaching activities: we run successful programmes in Computer Science and Games Computing, and a number of Master’s programmes, including an MSc in Games Development & Design. There are a number of opportunities to contribute across this portfolio of programmes, though we expect that the successful candidate may be particularly well-placed to deliver games-focussed teaching and activities. There are also opportunities to develop new modules and programmes, and to help us build exciting and appealing curricula for our future students.

In addition, you will be expected to contribute to the delivery of modules on these and other awards across the School of Computer Science. The Senior Lecturer post holder will take responsibility for the academic quality assurance and management of these programmes and will be expected to lead in the strategic development of teaching and learning and research activities, by cultivating national and international partnerships to introduce new areas of activity. Lecturers are expected to develop their craft as a teacher, and the University provides support for those new to lecturing. This includes mentorship, professional development guidance and support towards achieving HEA qualification. The post holder will also carry out additional activities in support of the academic mission of the school, which will include the pastoral support of undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The University is committed to building a culturally diverse institution, where all staff and students can flourish and feel valued for their contribution and individuality. We are encouraging talented people, whatever their background, to work and study here. All appointments are made on merit. We particularly welcome applications from suitably qualified female academics, as they are currently under-represented in positions within the School.
