SRUC is unique in Scotland and one of the largest organisations of its kind in Europe. Our ambitious and exciting vision is to work at local, national and international levels, leading innovation and sustainable development in agriculture and rural sectors.

We are looking for an enthusiastic academic with a strong emphasis in sustainable business management, financial accounting and interpretation who is able to integrate with colleagues across our existing teaching and research strengths. Candidates should have strengths in rural business management and entrepreneurship (specific research interests and skills may include, but not limited to, food supply chain management, operations management, digitalisation, resilience and sustainability). Additionally, knowledge of new developments in current rural financial policy, sustainable financial management theory and practice, and project management would be advantageous, as well as fostering strong links with local, national and international industry.

The successful candidate will be required to teach on and further develop the UG and PG portfolio across RBM, Agriculture, MSc Organic Farming and the MSc in Agricultural Professional Practice. Within these programmes across SRUC, there is an emphasis on preparing students for careers in the rural sector, including agriculture, tourism and entrepreneurship, and fostering the essential skills needed by practicing business leaders.

To be considered for this role you should possess a MSc in relevant subject area (or exceptional teaching or industry experience equivalent to the above) and a Teaching Qualification or a willingness to complete one within two years of appointment.

The successful applicant will also ideally have a track record of research in a related field. SRUC is seeking a closer alignment of its research and education activities and it is hoped that the successful applicant will contribute to world class research carried out within SRUC in terms of grant income and publication output. You will grasp the opportunity to foster cross-disciplinary collaborations and ambitions that will build on current strengths within the department, and across the institution.
