Passionate about Innovation?  Want to facilitate commercial impact of research?  Want to make a difference to the Country and the World?   Interested in working for SETsquared, the enterprise partnership of the Universities of Bath, Bristol, Exeter, Southampton and Surrey?

ICURe (Innovation and Commercialisation of University Research) in just a few years has developed a reputation as an impact programme for the commercialisation of research from across the UK.  ICURe gets researchers ‘out of their labs’ and into the global marketplace to understand how their research can drive a commercial undertaking, be it a start-up, a license, or a major collaboration.  ICURe is a very intense programme, cohorts are usually 3 months long, during which each research team will engage with over 100 commercial organisations to understand the marketplace and how customers might utilise their research.   Frequently ICURe enables research team enables them to pivot from the direction they might have first envisioned and direct their efforts in a commercially beneficial direction which meats customer demand.

Over 300 teams from research groups in 60 UK universities have participated in the ICURe Programme over the past 6 years.  The teams have engaged with over 20,000 commercial organisations around the globe.  Over 100 new companies have been formed, over 100 licenses are in negotiation or finalised, and 100’s of collaborations have been created.

The contract is full time fixed term until 31/07/2021 but part-time secondments with a minimum commitment of 0.6FTE and upwards would be considered recognising flexibility would be needed as the programme requires full time commitment at times. The post will be based at University of Southampton Science Park in Chilworth with flexibility due to current covid restrictions. You will have a well-established and proven track record in the innovation and research commercialisation field, especially with knowledge of delivering Innovation in the Higher Education sectors.  Reporting into the SETsquared Programme Director, this role will work with the ICURe team and all the delivery partners and contractors.
