Applications are invited for an 18 month Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) funded Postdoctoral Research Fellow Level 1 within UCD School of Chemistry.

The project will focus on developing a biocatalytic route for the synthesis of valuable iminosugars with therapeutic properties. The research aims to construct an artificial enzyme cascade that will enable the conversion of simple building blocks in to high-value products.

Development of the approach will involve working with academic and industrial partners to select suitable enzymes, which will be optimised by directed evolution and/or rational design.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a multi-disciplinary environment and develop skills in molecular biology, biocatalysis and synthetic chemistry.
