Job Description

The Research Assistant will be central in implementing the different stages of a two year research project. The Research Assistant should fulfil specific areas of responsibilities listed below and any other possible areas that may arise in project implementation: 

• Setting up and managing project specifics 
• Managing two student assistants  
• Collecting and collating of data (primarily scripts) at various stages of the project – online and in class 
• Setting up of e-platforms and procedures for the collection of data 
• Preparing data for analysis 
• Helping with the administration of the rater validation process 
• Cleaning and tagging of scripts using a selected tagging software (upon training).  
• Using selected language analysis software  
• Running selected SPSS statistical analyses  
• Setting up and conducting relevant interview and focus group discussions 
• Transcribing focus group discussion data 
• Facilitating other administrative processes related to the project 
• Attending workshop sessions on rating of scripts 
• Grading of scripts  
• Preparation of paper work for IRB application 
• Providing support for the writing up of progress reports and end of project report and related publications arising from the project 
• Managing project administration of finances 

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree
• Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
• Good working knowledge of MS Office and SPSS
