About the Role

An expert in the field of Screen Production, the Associate Professor will make a distinguished contribution to the profile of UniSA Creative through the development of a program of collaborative research supported by competitive research grant funding. You will also contribute significantly to teaching within undergraduate, honours and postgraduate programs.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide academic leadership to support teaching and learning initiatives, enhancing the student experience and ensuring graduates are the preferred employees of industry.
  • Lead and contribute to the on-going development of courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, working collaboratively with staff and professional partners, to ensure programs reflect contemporary practice and theory.
  • Conduct nationally and internationally recognised research delivering research outputs that build the research capacity and reputation of UniSA Creative.
  • Attract high achieving honours and PhD students and provide high quality supervision to HDR students.
  • Play a leadership role in mentoring other academic team members and participation in planning and strategic initiatives.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • PhD qualification, industry experience and evidence of an outstanding, internationally benchmarked record of achievement in Screen Production.
  • Excellent ability and experience to undertake high-quality teaching activities that reflect pedagogical, student and professional contemporary needs and standards.
  • Evidence of sustained contribution to research activity, with a record of quality journal publications and non-traditional research outputs, including winning external grants to support research projects.
  • Demonstrated experience of active engagement in the attraction and supervision of honours and higher degree by research candidates (MRes/PhD) to completion.
  • Evidence of sustained contribution to the professional development of other staff, including leadership in peer mentoring.

Expertise gained in either fictional, factual or hybrid screen production, with research, teaching and industry experience in script development, writing for the screen, concept development, production and distribution, or in a specialist role within the screen production lifecycle, is also sought.
