DETAILED DESCRIPTION    

The Department of Chemistry is an academic unit within the College of Arts and Sciences comprising some 25 faculty members and laboratory staff. The Department offers a BSc in Chemistry (with tracks in Environmental, Materials and Forensic Chemistry) that was launched in August 2017. The department is also responsible for teaching chemistry to students majoring in engineering disciplines as well as those pursuing the KU Pre-Medicine Bridge program. The department is dedicated to supporting excellence in chemical education and research to meet the strategic needs of Abu Dhabi, the UAE, and the international community. The department invites applications for faculty positions at the Assistant or Associate Professor ranks. A minimum of a doctoral degree in Chemical Science is required. Candidates for the Assistant Professor post should have at least one year of postdoctoral experience in a leading laboratory and be able to demonstrate strong potential for excellence in teaching together with the potential to develop a high-quality program of scholarship and creative activity that is capable of gaining international recognition. For an Associate position, applicants should normally have served as an Assistant Professor for at least five years in a pre-eminent institution of higher education and have a strong record of institutional, professional, and community service. An excellent record in teaching and related activities is required along with a sustained, externally recognized record of research and scholarship, including grant capture and high-quality publications.

Applications from all areas of chemistry are welcome but preference will be given to candidates with research interests in simulation/computational chemistry, synthesis, or biological/medicinal chemistry.
