About us

The Centre for Health Economics Research and Evaluation (CHERE) is part of the UTS Business School and is recognised nationally and internationally as a Centre of excellence in health economics. Our areas of expertise include economic evaluation and health technology assessment, applied econometrics, discrete choice experiments, health outcome measurement and policy evaluation.

We are seeking to recruit a research fellow to contribute to our program of research in health outcome and quality of life measurement and valuation.

About the Role

The successful applicant will work independently and as part of a team on various projects that are part of CHERE's extensive program of research in health outcome and quality of life measurement and valuation. Current projects include an ARC- funded Discovery Project entitled "Equitable funding for health care: Integrating social outcomes", an MRFF-funded project on "Measuring and valuing changes in child health to facilitate robust decision making" and a range of projects funded by the EuroQol Research Foundation developing quality of life measures using qualitative and quantitative methods. Our program of research involves psychometrics, discrete choice experiments, health economics valuation methods and econometrics. The successful applicant will work with senior researchers at CHERE and at other Australian and international institutions to complete these and other projects. This will include day to day project management, use of qualitative, psychometric and econometric methods, development of on-line surveys, including all aspects of discrete choice experiments, implementation and management of data collection and conduct of statistical analyses,preparing high quality written reports and peer-reviewed journal articles and contributing to new projects.

The successful applicant will also have the opportunity to participate in professional development and related activities and contribute to achieving the Centre’s performance targets.

About You

You will have a postgraduate degree or PhD in economics, health economics, health service research or a related subject. You will be familiar with discrete choice experiments and other health economics methods, and ideally have experience in undertaking and reporting research using discrete choice experiments. Experience with psychometric analysis or econometric analysis would be an advantage.

You will have experience and capacity to work independently under supervision and as part of a team. You are also an excellent communicator and have the ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative networks throughout the university as well as nationally and internationally.

Remuneration & Benefits

Base Salary Range:

$108,203 - $128,064 p.a. (Level B Research Fellow)

This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension)in addition to the base salary.

The position is full-time,and appointment will be made on a fixed term basis for two years.
