The University of Lincoln is one of the most dynamic young universities in the country. Situated in the centre of a beautiful cathedral city, our core mission is to combine outstanding, high-impact research and professional practice with a superb student experience and the highest quality civic engagement. Our academics and students engage collaboratively and creatively with some of the key issues of the age, generating insights and creative outputs that push the boundaries of knowledge and practice. Connecting the local to the global, we inspire and support our students to become flexible, self-directed, empathetic citizens of the world, who are prepared for working life today and for what it might become.

In 2020, the University of Lincoln was named Modern University of the Year in The Times and Sunday Times, Good University Guide 2021, as the highest-ranked multi-faculty modern university in the UK, climbing to 45th (out of 135). In the same year it was named one of the world's greatest young universities in the Times Higher Education Young University Rankings. The University has been awarded gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework for its consistently outstanding teaching, learning and outcomes for its students.

The School of English and Journalism is seeking to expand its provision in Creative Writing at both undergraduate level and at postgraduate level, delivering modules on internal programmes and contributing to the degree in Creative Writing and Publishing offered in partnership with The Guardian. Our vision is to be recognised nationally and internationally for excellence and innovation in teaching, practice, and research. With regard to the latter, as we are also enhancing research into creative writing and the publishing industry, the successful applicant will be able to offer publications that are relevant to future REF returns, as well as contribute to the emerging research group in creative writing at Lincoln. We are looking for an enthusiastic Lecturer to join a dynamic and growing community of academics and students.

The Lecturer in Creative Writing will be expected to contribute to the teaching of core undergraduate modules in the School, as well as offering sessions at Masters level in addition to maintaining an active track record in publishing. We particularly appreciate applications from those with experience in writing fiction and with research interests in prose writing. A specialism in YA would be preferable.

We are an equal opportunities employer, celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. The University positively encourages applications and the opportunity to employ people from underrepresented groups inclusive of Black and Ethnic Minority candidates, candidates of all gender identities and expressions, candidates from the LGBT+ community and those that practise different faiths and beliefs to enhance our One Community where we strive to be kind, patient, and supportive of each other.
