Widening Participation and Social Mobility are pleased to be recruiting for a new Student Success Manager to lead projects to engage, support and remove barriers for students currently underrepresented at the University.  Leading on our work with current students as well as engaging with students pre-arrival, you will lead a team of five members of staff to deliver and implement a range of projects for students in line with the goals of our Access and Participation Plan.  You will play a key leadership role in this area focusing on widening access and success as well as student satisfaction for University of Southampton students.

In addition you will be working directly with students through our Student Advisory Board, developing a stronger role for student voice throughout our programmes and expanding our Ignite Programme, an alumni funded project working with students from the most disadvantaged areas of the UK to improve student’s outcomes and access to opportunities driving forward positive change for students.  Working with colleagues from across the institution including academics and professional services staff you will support your team to develop strong links with different support services to ensure students are effectively supported throughout their journey.

You would be joining the department at a key point of development following the creation of our Widening Participation and Social Mobility Directorate in the past year and the launch our new Widening Participation Strategy you will have the chance to shape the next steps for our department.

The successful candidate will have significant management experience as well as an in-depth knowledge of the Higher Education in the UK.  You will have experience of leading and developing new projects in an education or youth setting, evaluating projects to ensure they achieve a measurable impact.  You will be able to operate confidently and productively and will ideally have an understanding or passion for equality and inclusion.
