Job Description

The NUS Master of Science (Audiology) programme conducts research in all aspects of hearing and balance health. The current project is a partnership between NUS and NTU that aims to overcome obstacles to hearing health seeking behaviour in Singapore seniors.  The research proposes to design and evaluate health communication strategies that can be applied in community hearing clinics.  The intervention phase will also determine its effectiveness and potential for long-term implementation in Singapore.

We are looking for a communications researcher to support research activities by the research teams and collaborators in the project.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage research projects
• Conceptualize and operationalize study designs
• Work closely with local and overseas collaborators and third party service providers in conducting the projects
• Daily operational, administrative, and logistics duties related to the research projects
• Conduct and organise project meetings
• Conduct and interpret quantitative data analyses for projects and journal publications
• Actively contribute to the preparation of manuscript drafts for peer-reviewed journals
• Undertake any additional project duties as required by the supervisor
• Assist in preparing the project’s progress report, final report, and statement of accounts
• Assist in preparing quarterly fund requisitions from the funding agency
• Write and publish journal articles

Qualifications

• Research position is open to individuals keen to join a project on consumers’ implicit and explicit responses to hearing health.
• Master’s or PhD degree in communications, business administration, public health, or any related social science disciplines.
• Demonstrated experience in scientific writing through publications in public health or social sciences literature. Final year dissertations/theses will also be accepted as writing samples.
• Expertise in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies
• Solid skills in quantitative and qualitative data analyses using relevant software (e.g., SPSS, AMOS, NVIVO, Atlas) will be preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Highly motivated and willing to work independently in a multidisciplinary setting.
• Interest in developing a research career.
