Imagine working in an environment where your contribution is so far reaching that you will be changing the world - this is reality - if you choose.

As a Technician in our Mechanical Workshop, you will be working alongside leaders in their discipline that rely on your expertise to guide them. You will achieve this by building strong partnerships and demonstrating creativity in problem solving. In this pivotal role you will be responsible for aiding staff and students in the manufacture of equipment for experimental and research purposes ranging from optical fibre dies to high voltage electrodes. Personally, you will be fluent in the use of Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacture (CAM) and using 3D drawing packages to aid design. You will also be a confident communicator able to explain technical issues to those less experienced and where English may be their second language. Pitching in to solve unique experimental manufacture and design solutions will be your second nature and you will always be looking to deliver effective results in the most efficient way and enhancing your customers' experience.

This is a truly immersive role that works at the very heart of our customer centric service - think you can help shape and mould the world? Then get in touch - we want to meet you.

In return we will offer you:

  • career development as we know this is important to you so will ensure you have opportunities to enhance your skills
  • we are committed to work-life balance
  • offer a contributory pension scheme
  • 20 days holidays (rising to 24 after 4 years), plus 8 Bank Holidays and 6 additional holidays (University closure days)
  • subsidised health and fitness facilities on-site; cycle to work scheme
  • a range of discounts which include restaurants, retail outlets and entertainment.

You will join a small inclusive team that embraces diversity and the benefits this brings. In support of this due consideration will be given to those who have had career breaks for reasons including maternity, paternity or adoption leave, disability or illness.
