Special Scientist Position in Linguistics
The Department of English Studies at the University of Cyprus invites applications for one (1) Special Scientist position in Linguistics for the Fall Semester 2021–2022 pending final approval and funding by the University authorities.
The successful candidate will be required to teach the following courses:
Fall Semester 2021-2022:
ENG 240.1 Pedagogical Grammar (Lab) (tutorial lab in two smaller sessions (ENG240 1A and ENG240 1B, one hour per week each) for the compulsory undergraduate course ENG 240 Pedagogical Grammar, intended as grammar labs for syntax exercises).
ENG 5XX Elective in Linguistics (within their specialization, an advanced seminar to third- and fourth-year undergraduate students within the Linguistics track of the BA in English Language and Literature).
The successful candidate will be required to teach and guide students. They will also administer and mark the final exam for the courses they will teach.
Special Scientist remuneration is €63 per teaching hour and paid employment is for 15 weeks. Teaching duties begin on 6 September 2021, ending on 18 December 2021. Payment is made as follows: €63 per hour × teaching hours × 15 weeks for the Fall Semester 2021–2022.
Applicants should hold a PhD on a relevant subject.

- Copies of degrees and transcripts (the successful candidate(s) will be asked to submit certified copies from the Ministry of Education of Cyprus, if degrees were acquired in Cyprus, or from the respective institution abroad)
- Sample course syllabus or syllabi in the areas advertised.
If applying for the first time to the Department, applicants must also arrange for two academic referees to send letters of recommendation directly to it (see below). The names and addresses of these referees must be submitted with the application.
In case an applicant is employed in the public or wider public sector of the Republic of Cyprus, they must obtain in advance permission to work at the University from the appropriate Department/Ministry, or wider public sector authority.
