Glasgow School of Art (GSA) is one of the UK’s last remaining independent Schools of Art, and is ranked as one of the top 10 art and design schools in the world.  

GSA are seeking to appoint a highly motivated Head of Research, a key cross-institutional leadership role, to coordinate the development of a research strategy under the direction of the Deputy Director Research and Innovation, in collaboration with leading academics in the context of GSA’s strategic planning.

A key focus will be the development of the Research Excellence Framework (REF) submission and associated impact case studies, as well as influencing the overall culture of research at GSA, including coordinating, overseeing and promoting Research, Innovation, Impact and Knowledge Exchange.

You will be qualified to PhD level in a subject relevant to the academic disciplines of GSA, as well as having a strong professional, academic and personal research profile. You will have demonstrable academic leadership and management experience at senior level within Higher Education, with significant experience in leading and managing a successful research team.
