  • Opportunity for an individual certified in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) to play an important role in UWA’s COVID Research Response and Clinical Trials Unit (CTU)
  • Level 7, full-time appointment on a 12 month fixed term basis
  • Salary range: $90,862 - $100,814 p.a. plus 9.5% superannuation (increasing to 17% from July 2021)

About the team

The Office of Research is responsible for procuring and administering research funding opportunities and for translating research outcomes which enhance the University’s research reputation.

The Research Operations team is responsible for the administration of internally and externally funded research grants, contracts and postdoctoral research fellowships; for ensuring the highest ethical standards in research involving animals, human participants and biohazardous materials; and for responding to national research excellence, impact and engagement assessment exercises.

About the opportunity

Reporting to the Manager Human Research Ethics, you will coordinate administrative support for clinical trials to ensure compliance with the international guidelines for Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and University policy. You will also liaise with research teams to obtain relevant approvals, coordinate insurance, reporting, relevant contracts and agreements, and local governance review; and facilitate cooperation between clinical trial teams and other groups within and outside the University. In addition, you will provide pre-trial, trial commencement, and ongoing monitoring of clinical trials Sponsored by the University.

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency
  • Current certified training in Good Clinical Practice
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory codes and legislation for the administration of responsible and ethical research, and clinical trials
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, consultation, and negotiation skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and demonstrated ability to set and deal with conflicting priorities to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate diverse teams and operational sections of a university
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and work productively as part of a team
  • Proficiency in a range of computing skills including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, internet and email

About you

To succeed in this role it is essential that you are knowledgeable in the administrative and regulatory requirements of clinical trials in Australia. You will need to be able to both work independently and contribute as part of team. You will need to be able to build, apply and adapt process to ensure that trials sponsored by the university maintain compliance.
