The Interim Associate Director, Talent Acquisition is responsible for the development and implementation of the Flinders Sourcing Strategy to deliver best practice talent solutions inclusive of identification, attraction and acquisition to meet the current and future resourcing needs of the University, including achieving our diversity and inclusion objectives.

The Interim Associate Director, will be required to:

  • Protect and promote the Flinders University employment brand by providing internal and external candidates with an exceptional candidate experience
  • Partner with Hiring Managers to achieve excellence and best practice in all aspects of the recruitment process
  • Manage the Talent Acquisition team to provide a range of sourcing, recruitment and on- boarding services.

This role is a member of the People and Culture Leadership Team and will contribute to the development and implementation of the P&C Strategy, plans and objectives.

Key Position Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and embed the Talent Sourcing Strategy to achieve optimal employee engagement and retention, utilising a multi-channel approach including internal referrals
  • Manage relationships with third party recruitment agencies and manage procurement processes relating to these
  • Lead, coach and manage the Talent Acquisition Team to build their understanding of HR best practice, policies and processes to be able to provide the best possible sourcing service
  • Provide high level advice to the Director, People and Culture on a range of strategies
  • Develop, implement and maintain effective operational and service processes to ensure, consistency, standardisation, quality and legislative compliance
  • Plan for future hiring needs; create a sustainable pool of candidates to develop a talent pipeline to meet the needs of the University
  • Actively build candidate pipelines to increase the number of women, people with a disability and from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures
  • Manage analytics for measurements of success by assessing effectiveness of branding channels, and develop and deliver regular reporting on key system performance metrics to demonstrate effectiveness of the Talent Sourcing  strategy
  • Manage the applicant tracking system to ensure its effectiveness by assessing configuration, workflows, reviewing and improving processes and developing regular reporting
  • Build and embed the Flinders University brand in the community (multi-channels including the intranet); attend industry networking events that contribute to Flinders being an employer of choice
  • Develop and implement the Flinders University Employee Value Proposition to enhance the recruitment and onboarding experience for candidates and to maintain high levels of talent retention
  • Support the development and implementation of an employment brand and marketing strategy aligned to our EVP to position Flinders as an employer of choice
  • Develop, implement and maintain digital and non-digital employment marketing
  • Partner with the Manager, EEO and Diversity and Hiring Managers across Flinders to improve our entry experience into Flinders for all candidates, but with a focus on women, ATSI and people with a disability
  • Continuously improve recruitment and selection tools to enhance the recruitment experience for candidates and to maintain levels of talent retention
  • Any other responsibilities in line with the level of the role as assigned by the supervisor and/or University

Key Position Capabilities

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resource Management
  • Extensive experience in successful development and implementation of a wide range of talent acquisition and sourcing initiatives and strategies
  • Sound understanding of People and Culture contemporary management theory and practice including change management
  • Demonstrated ability to operate strategically, identify emerging trends and issues whilst  having a strong implementation focus
  • Demonstrated understanding of P&C policies and practices as they apply within the University sector
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and developing people an effective and client focussed team
  • Proven ability to influence and negotiate with senior leaders, to resolve opposing views and achieve desired outcomes
  • Proven ability to operate creatively to deliver innovative solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong and collaborative relationships both internal and external
  • Motivated, resilient team player with a drive to support the overall strategic P&C  and University objectives
  • Understanding and recent experience of current and best practice recruitment technology (preferably Workday)
