About the area

Exercise Science consists of a dynamic group of academics delivering Exercise and Sports Science Australia accredited courses in Sport and Exercise  Science and Clinical Exercise Physiology. Additionally, Exercise Science has a growing postgraduate program strengthened by state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities. Exercise Science is keen to develop synergies with health organisations locally, nationally and internationally such as with the $2 billion Fiona Stanley Hospital located next the University.

The Role

Exercise Science has an opportunity for a talented academic at either a Lecturer (Level B) or Senior Lecturer level (Level C) that can provide leadership in teaching and research within an area of priority (Exercise Physiology) in the discipline. The successful candidate is also expected to contribute to teaching Exercise Physiology within both Sport and Exercise Science and Clinical Exercise Physiology programs. Such contribution will require the successful candidate to unit coordinate, deliver lecturers and laboratory content in a semester and trimester-based system. Service to the Discipline and University is also expected through contribution to committees and working parties.

The Lecturer or Senior Lecturer position is expected to develop scholarly research outputs and professional activities relevant to the discipline.  A commitment and capacity to attract external research funding is also expected.  This position makes a significant contribution to the teaching effort of the Discipline through the preparation and delivery of lectures and tutorials, program coordination, and supervision of honours and postgraduate students.  Academic staff at this level will also be involved in a broad range of administrative and service functions in the Discipline and across the University, and professional activities within the discipline.   

What you'll bring to this role:

  • A PhD or thesis under examination in Exercise Physiology or related area.
  • Experience in and commitment to successfully supervising honours, postgraduate and HDR students.
  • Be able to provide evidence of appropriate vaccination or immunity in accordance with the University's Immunisation Policy.
  • Australian residency or possession of a valid visa with working entitlement in Australia.
