The People and Organisational Development (POD) Directorate supports DMU in attracting, developing and retaining staff, facilitating high standards of organisational performance and providing support to colleagues to ensure a quality student experience. We offer learning and development, support for recruitment and retention, strategic change projects, employment policies, staff reward and recognition programmes and staff health and safety.
As the Head of Health and Safety, you will manage and lead the team in providing high quality health and safety advice across the university. Develop health and safety management systems and policies to ensure compliance with regulations and further best practice in the field of health and safety. In your new role, you will create a continuous improvement culture across the university. Hold responsibility for driving safety programmes across specific areas of focus and ensure the education and training of staff in health and safety practices. Driving greater collaboration between faculties, directorates and the Health and Safety Team is also a vital part of this role.
To be successful, you will have been a Senior Health and Safety Specialist with significant experience of motivating, managing and developing a team in a large organisation. You will have the ability to deliver a high-quality service that proactively develops stakeholder relationships to ensure ownership of health and safety across the business, as well as having the ability to communicate effectively to all staff and students at all levels. Have a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent and substantial experience of health and safety in a large organisation.
