Company Description

This is an exciting time to join an organisation with an important role in the UK’s world-class higher education sector.

Over the last year, the UK higher education landscape has adapted rapidly in unique circumstances and QAA's priority has been to support providers as they meet these challenges.

We are the UK's independent quality body for higher education with a mission to safeguard and improve the quality of UK higher education, wherever it is delivered in the world.

QAA works as the designated quality body for higher education in England, and our new membership scheme was launched in August 2019. We're changing the way we work and introducing new services to benefit universities and colleges throughout the UK and support their operation globally.

Position

We’re looking for a talented and enthusiastic Academic Engagement Manager who shares our commitment to improving and promoting the UK’s world class reputation for delivering a quality higher education experience for all students.

The roles within our Membership, Quality Enhancement & Standards team are responsible for developing and communicating our membership engagement and quality and standards activities.

Requirements

We are looking for individuals with academic and academic-related backgrounds. You must have experience as an academic manager with direct responsibility for having designed and delivered courses as well as contributing to institutional policy in response to sector developments. This might have been gained in an academic or educational development role. The post will involve leading projects to enhance policy and practice across the sector, in many cases innovating and testing new ideas to support QAA member institutions.

It's important that you have excellent communication skills including the ability to create imaginative, useful materials for busy academic staff and demonstrate real flair in presenting these to a variety of audiences. You will have a keen interest in quality assurance and enhancement and a thorough knowledge of sector-wide reference points including the UK Quality Code and its associated advice and guidance. You should also have credibility to engage with senior institutional colleagues.
