The University of Southampton has an ambitious portfolio of change, designed to help deliver the goals and objectives outlined in our University Strategy.

To support this important work, the Change Portfolio Office has an exciting opportunity for a part-time experienced and dynamic Project Manager to help deliver this change.

The University Change Portfolio Office reports into the Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for supporting the delivery of the University’s strategy, through the management of the Strategic Major Projects portfolio and its constituent programmes and projects.

You will be responsible for the definition, coordination, control, execution, and completion of specific change initiatives ensuring consistency with the objectives of the University strategy.

You will manage the development, planning and implementation of change initiatives which are components of the University’s Strategic Major Projects portfolio and will be involved in the delivery of projects and programmes at any stage in the lifecycle from initiation through to benefits realisation.

You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to plan and manage your own workload. You will be a positive and proactive problem solver and have the ability to manage often conflicting priorities at the same time to ensure that work is delivered on time and to a high standard. You will be a strong team player, but also be self-sufficient and able to work independently.

You will have a skill level (including experience and other qualifications) equivalent to achievement of a professional qualification or postgraduate degree. A PRINCE2 Practitioner or equivalent agile or traditional project management qualification is also required. You will be able to build, manage and motivate project teams in a matrix management environment. You will be professional, clear thinking under pressure and act as a role model within the Change Portfolio Office. Experience of organisational design would be advantageous.
