Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in Ecological Remote Sensing in the Research Division for Ecology and Biodiversity (Ref.: 503941), to commence as soon as possible for two years, with the possibility of renewal for one further year, subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Ecology, Ecological Modeling, Remote Sensing, Geospatial Science or a related field, with experience in supercomputing or big data analytics. They should be fluent in written and spoken English. Strong quantitative and programming skills (e.g. Python, R, C, or Matlab) are essential as the appointee will deal with a large amount of remote sensing data. Those with research background in process-based modeling, vegetation spectroscopy, satellite remote sensing and model-data fusion are highly preferred.

The appointee will work on developing novel integration of multi-scale Earth’s observations with ecological theories and models to advance plant ecology studies across various scales. Specifically, he/she will develop algorithms to assimilate multi-scale, multi-source remote sensing observations to enable accurate and scalable monitoring of plant physiology and health; and explore the patterns, drivers and consequences of these remotely sensed patterns over large spatial and temporal scales. He/She will work with Dr. Jin Wu and a strong collaborative team with broad expertise in remote sensing, plant physiology ecology, Earth system modeling, and high-performance computing. For more information, please visit Enquiries about the post should be sent to Dr. Jin Wu at

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.
