Job Description

Principal Investigator: Associate Professor Mikael Hartman, Department of Surgery

The Breast Cancer Research unit under Associate Professor Mikael Hartman is looking for a highly motivated and well-qualified candidate for the post of a Research Fellow to mainly work on a pilot risk-based breast cancer screening programme called BREAst Screening Tailored for HEr (BREATHE) and other projects under Associate Professor Mikael Hartman. The pilot programme aims to personalise breast cancer screening frequency based on an individual’s unique risk for breast cancer. The candidate will be working closely with collaborators in Genome Institute of Singapore (GIS) and possibly stakeholders from Health Promotion Board (HPB) and Breast Screen Singapore (BSS).

Main duties and responsibilities:

The Research Fellow will be involved in developing algorithms and pipelines to compute genetic and non-genetic breast cancer risk profiles. The candidate will also be carrying out integration of genetic, established risk factors and mammographic data to generate a holistic risk profile for participants of BREATHE programme. He/She is also responsible to ensure that tabulated data is accurate and complete for analysis purposes. Candidate will integrate academic findings and apply it in a large trial with potential to inform and change screening practices in Singapore. The candidate is expected to be a team player who is also able to work independently.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Skills Requirement:

  • PhD in Mathematics/Statistics/Computing Science or a related science discipline
  • Knowledge or skills in R, statistics, genomic analysis preferred
  • Ability to work on grant proposals including writing, meeting with collaborators, and reviewing proposal opportunities
