The School of Design sits within the College of Design and Social Context and is a new School comprising the disciplines of Industrial Design, Digital Design (including Animation & Interactive Media) and Communication Design. About the role

The Lecturer, Communication Design, Early Career Development Fellow (ECDF) is required to contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the School, in disciplines related to their field of expertise. They will carry out teaching activities within the undergraduate program, Bachelor of Design (Communication Design), but may also be required to teach within the Communication Design postgraduate programs. Expertise in communication design theory and history and/or Human-centred Design, Service Design, UX Design and/or Information/Interaction/Experience Design would be an advantage.

The role will require you to continually maintain and advance your scholarly, research and/or professional capabilities. It is expected that you actively promote the program by establishing links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities.

Within the Design School the Lecturer will be expected to work collaboratively with fellow academics within the teaching team and support the development of their program. They will be expected to update colleagues and students on developments in their subject area or specialisation. In addition, they may be responsible for course coordination.

About You

You will be required to undertake course coordination and prepare and deliver programs at undergraduate and post-graduate levels, including online delivery, and produce high quality curriculum or program materials. You will have the capacity to work effectively with and to negotiate sensitively with students especially on issues related to effective learning. You will be expected to have an emerging track record and recognition for quality research outputs as evidenced by publications, development of new research initiatives, competitive research funding, and industry links. In addition, you will have the ability to supervise higher degree by research candidates and be able to build effective networks with colleagues and generate alternative funding projects through effective liaison with industry and government

Qualifications

Mandatory: PhD or equivalent in relevant field (currently enrolled candidates will be considered).

To be eligible to apply candidates must have performed casual teaching work at an Australian University within the past three years and must not have been employed on a continuing basis at an Australian University
