Course Leader - MA Designer Maker

Part time
Permanent
CCW - Peckham Road, London UK
£46,423 - £55,932 pro rata pa

Established in 2008, the MA Designer Maker course now defines the nature of design and making craft practice in the 21st Century. Students are asked to explore the challenges and distinctions that lie between the latest digital manufacturing and meticulous handcraft as well as lines of enquiry and narratives that generate and trigger prototypical moments allowing every Designer Maker graduate to test the boundaries of their maker practice, as well as giving them opportunities to experiment and explore collaborative processes of production and exhibition.

The interdisciplinary nature of the Designer Maker course and the cultural diversity of its cohort from both Arts & Design backgrounds enable students to broaden their views on subjects and their specialist subject disciplines. In this one year full-time masters, Designer Maker students are encouraged to experiment and explore ideas through material and theoretical pathways in both studio and workshops with moments to pause in thorough reflections on their development and the direction they wish to take their ‘makerly’ practices.

As Course Leader for MA Designer Maker, you’ll assume responsibility for the academic leadership and management of a course that pursues contemporary and future material and making practices in the context of Design, as well as taking responsibility for the design, development and delivery of the curriculum. You’ll be involved in visioning and contributing to the future direction of the course in conjunction with the Creative Computing Institute, to provide an allied space and course in which students will explore, develop and speculate on practices relating to the potential of making in the context of coding and digital technology.
