CENTRE FOR HOLISTIC TEACHING AND LEARNING

The Centre for Holistic Teaching and Learning is responsible for the promotion of the quality and scholarship of teaching and learning within the University and beyond. It works in close partnership with academic and professional colleagues both locally and internationally to foster student-centred, outcome-oriented and evidence-based teaching and learning at the University. The Centre provides a wide range of staff development activities, collects evidence on students’ achievements of the graduate attributes to inform university policies, develops and implements eLearning strategy and promotes innovative pedagogical and assessment methods (http://chtl.hkbu.edu.hk/main/).

Senior Teaching and Learning Officer (PR0304/20-21)

The appointee will report to the Director of the Centre and perform the following duties:

  • advise academic audience on learning and teaching related issues;
  • design and implement innovative pedagogies in the University;
  • lead the scholarship of teaching and learning through educational research and publications;
  • plan and conduct professional development activities, including programmes, workshops, seminars, consultations; and
  • define and implement the strategic plan and actions of the Centre.

Applicants should possess:

  • a doctoral degree in a discipline covered in the academic programmes of study offered by the University;
  • at least eight years of relevant experience after graduation;
  • strongly committed to learning and teaching and enhancement of students’ learning experience;
  • a proven record in pedagogical research on higher education;
  • an established practice in the deployment of the latest educational technologies;
  • demonstrated leadership qualities and managerial experience in a related field;
  • effective communication and interpersonal skills; and
  • an excellent command of written and spoken English (fluency in Chinese would be an asset).

Candidates with international recognitions such as HEA fellowships, CMALT would have an advantage.

Initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of up to three years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
