About the Role

The Associate Professor, Law provides leadership and fosters excellence in teaching and research efforts of the Graduate School of Business & Law, within the University, and with the community, professional, commercial and industrial sectors. More specifically, you will be responsible for providing original, innovative and distinguished contributions to the Schools programs for maintaining and advancing their scholarly, research and/or professional capabilities relevant to this discipline at a national and international level. You will make a significant contribution to the planning and strategic direction of the School, taking on academic leadership roles involving participation in various committees within the School, College and University and external to the University, as appropriate.

The Associate Professor will act as the Associate Dean (Law) for an agreed period of three years to provide strategic law leadership for learning and teaching or research and scholarship. The allocation of time for the Associate Dean role is 0.3-.05 (depending on projects such as accreditation).

About You

You will demonstrate the ability to direct a law program/s and implement program improvements and innovative approaches to student-centred learning and quality improvement programs. You will have a nationally recognised research track record in the law discipline including substantial record of research outputs in high quality outlets and emerging international recognition. Extensive experience in research leadership with the ability to build and develop collaborative research teams, mentor academic staff to deliver high quality outcomes, attract and secure external research funding to sustain research effort, manage funded research projects including complex budgets and reporting requirements will be highly advantageous. In addition, you will have a proven ability as an effective member of a management team that develops and achieves shared goals and objectives.

Qualifications

Mandatory: Undergraduate or graduate law degree that enables admission to practice and a PhD in the law field.

Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children check.

Preferred: Completion of appropriate teaching modules or possess (or eligible to apply for) appropriate HEA fellowship. If the appointed candidate does not meet this requirement at time of appointment, they will be supported to complete this as a requirement to fulfil their probation.
