Within the School of Health & Life Sciences an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Lecturer to join the Division of Midwifery & Specialist Nursing. The successful candidate will have a leadership role in the dynamic and progressive Division to develop our growing portfolio of education programmes, and further engage in related research activity, CPD and enterprise for income generation.
Our Division offers a wide range of professional programmes aligned to the Scottish Government Initiatives for practice and advancing roles and, where appropriate, to Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards and monitoring processes. Although the list of programmes is not exhaustive these include Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (Health Visiting, School Nursing, Occupational Health), in addition to District Nursing, Child Protection, MSc Advanced Clinical Practitioner, MSc Health Studies, Midwifery, Neonatal Nursing and Maternity Care Assistants. The successful candidate will require to be on the NMC register and demonstrate knowledge of the future direction of NMC current proposals with implications of change for professional programmes within the Division.
Experience of effective academic leadership is integral to the role along with a track record in the development and delivery of postgraduate education programmes. Evidence of experience is required in the integration of contemporary teaching, learning and assessment methods in everyday teaching practices and embedding research in education. In this leadership role, undertaking research, development and/ or scholarship to enhance teaching will be expected along with engagement in wider academic activities including research, consultancy and CPD. The post will include line management responsibilities with a keen focus on team development and succession planning. The post-holder will report into the Division of Midwifery & Specialist Nursing.
The successful candidate will be based in the new ‘state of the art’ Lanarkshire campus which creates a truly innovative, dynamic and collaborative environment for our programmes. The campus hosts inspiring, and flexible learning and teaching spaces packed with rich technology to offer staff and students access to some of the modern university facilities in the UK.
