The Faculty of Natural, Mathematical & Engineering Sciences (NMES) comprises the departments of Chemistry, Engineering, Informatics, Mathematics, and Physics, and aims to be distinctive and bold. Our student and staff numbers are growing, and King’s continues to make significant investments in the Faculty including the development of £50m education and research engineering laboratories in the heart of our central London Strand campus. Our research strategy focuses on ambitious growth plans underpinned by excellence and harnessing opportunities for interdisciplinarity.

We are now searching for our next Vice Dean (Research) who will be critical to achieving and supporting our ambitions through strategic leadership and the development of a research environment and culture to support success, working with other faculties, departments and externally. The Vice-Dean (Research) oversees the Faculty’s research strategy and its successful delivery working in partnership with the Departments and the College, including strengthening and expanding interdisciplinary research, increase of successful grant capture, and the development of a research environment centred around innovation, excellence and quality.

We are searching for candidates with direct experience of setting up a successful research group and a demonstrable understanding of establishing a clear research strategy.

The post holder should have an innovative and creative research track record of their own (in a field relevant to the Faculty) evidence of personal research standing, and a proven history of securing significant funding from varied and diverse sources to help enable others. Experience of establishing interdisciplinary research between departments and faculties while facilitating stakeholder relationships to achieve successful collaborations will also be a key element of the role.
